Hey, so I heard some story about city planning in NYC on BAI today, with LYNN BARON from Municipal Arts Society. They spoke about the "197A Plan" for Red Hook, which is (I didn't get the specifics) the one comprehensive neigbhorhood plan - produced in association with the Borough planning office - which was the product of a commmunity planning process. Apparently the location of the IKEA store was planned to remain industrial/maritime not commerical/parking and IKEA overrode the planning process.

Anyway, you probably have heard this. I'm just sharing it as a possible topic for discussion if you have a public program at EV that alot of folks in the neighborhood seem to may be invested in.
